The Blog - 30 Meeting musings on Uzbek suzanis
Katie Leede top Manhattan designer uses suzanis in wonderfully creative ways! Read below!
Katie Leede, at www.katieleede.com, has a brand new website and it showcases her amazing talent and creativity at its best. Below I have chosen her use of a Samarkand suzani as both headboard covering and then using the borders from the suzani she cut to make the headboard, she appliqués them to the bedroom curtains...lovely use of a fabulous hand embroidered textile! I recommend you go to her website to see more of her work!
Cheers!

A few beautiful Uzbek Ottoman design embroideries to enjoy!

Look what Horchow created for your wall size Samarkand Suzani textile art
While looking through my ever expanding cache of catalogs, I came across this photo of a fabulous Uzbek Samarkand used as a wallhanging behind a lovely headboard. The bedding was available by Horchow and a perfectly wonderful and contemporary complement to the historic suzani behind it. That is the key, to find complements to your historic textiles...colors that blend..as you would in any design scheme. There is no greater graphic impact than these wonderful suzanis if you aren't using contemporary art ! Don't you agree?
A word about historic, vintage textiles! Use them!!!
We adore this Uzbek fish pond design and you will too!
Just purchased this wonderful Uzbek suzani in the popular fish pond design in subtle sage greens and blues. This piece would be an excellent choice for a wall hanging in cabin, mountain house, beach house or any where you would have a fishing aficionado. It would be wonderful as a bedspread, hung behind a sofa, draped over an ottoman or other piece of furniture. An exceptional piece or excellent workmanship! We have a companion piece in the same colors!
